Intentions – Putting Mental Health ads in Video Games

Before we begin, it is important to state just how crucial mental health is. It is good to see that people and the media are beginning to talk about it more. Everyone deserves the chance to enjoy life and be happy. During the Covid-19 pandemic, many people have been forced to stay at home. That isolation can wreak havoc on one's mental health, and for those with mental health disorders, it could be even worse. Organizations that treat and deal with mental health find themselves at a critical point. While the impact of the pandemic has led to a surge in mental health issues, the pandemic itself makes it difficult for those afflicted to seek help.  As such, these companies have searched for different ways to reach out. One of these ways comes in the form of ads, but in a unique medium - V...

Alexo’s Journey to Sub 10 Minute Doom Speedrun

The following article was submitted by Alexo (link to his Twitch channel). Speedrun News only formatted it for web, SEO, and did some copywriting necessities. If you'd like to see the run first, you can click here to be taken to the bottom of the page where you'll see the video, otherwise, it'll be there waiting for you when you've finished reading! OoT Ganon’s Castle Cutscene Skip

This article is not original content. This is only a reconstruction of a pastebin created by Zfg. This is only being reposted because we consider it highly valuable speedrunning information, and wanted to display it in a way that keeps you on a single page. The only edits of the original post are grammar, punctuation, capitalization, embedding links, and a little bit of styling or rephrasing if necessary. Without further ado, read about the new route improvements -- originally written by Zfg: A few days ago a new clip was found in Ganon's castle escape that lets us get out of bounds and skip all the way to the end of the castle collapse -- without even having to watch the cutscene for the collapse starting. This saves more time than simply getting out of caste collapse faster ...

StudioMDHR releases ‘Legacy’ branch of Cuphead

A legacy version of Cuphead has now officially been released on Steam, which is the “exact launch build as Cuphead, with no applied patches and no future support”, StudioMDHR announced on patch notes from December 20th, 2017. The Legacy branch contains exploits and bugs of the launch version, however the legacy branch will not be supported nor modified in the future. This means that previous bugs are present in the legacy version. Additionally, using this branch may corrupt or erase player saves. The new branch offers the strategies from previous Cuphead runs to come back into the spotlight. Some of the patches that came later past the initial release had broken strategies that had accelerated the speed of completing the game. For the speedrunning leaderboard, however, this doesn’t chan...
