Arcus hits his goal!

19 weeks ago, Arcus set his goal time for Zelda 1 to any time below 30 minutes. His grind started off really tough, with nearly every minute saved being a new milestone in his journey. Just in recent days he had many runs inching close to a sub 30, but they just didn't make it for one reason or another. There are just so many variables in a run of Zelda. From manipulating enemy movement, health management can gain or lose plenty of time at the end of each dungeon, keeping track of your enemy kill count, of course many elements of RNG, switching between multiple routes depending on what is made available during the run itself... it makes for lots of ways to succeed, but so many more ways to fail. This was the run. 31.4 seconds ahead out of level 5 may have been his best pace ever. That wa...

StudioMDHR releases ‘Legacy’ branch of Cuphead

A legacy version of Cuphead has now officially been released on Steam, which is the “exact launch build as Cuphead, with no applied patches and no future support”, StudioMDHR announced on patch notes from December 20th, 2017. The Legacy branch contains exploits and bugs of the launch version, however the legacy branch will not be supported nor modified in the future. This means that previous bugs are present in the legacy version. Additionally, using this branch may corrupt or erase player saves. The new branch offers the strategies from previous Cuphead runs to come back into the spotlight. Some of the patches that came later past the initial release had broken strategies that had accelerated the speed of completing the game. For the speedrunning leaderboard, however, this doesn’t chan...
8 Second Time Save in LADX!

8 Second Time Save in LADX!

Just 2 months ago, VlackSR PB'd with a 52:45 in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening DX. With the world record being held at 52:44 by TGH, that leaves Vlack only about 1 second away. The main category is Any% (No SQ/WW/OoB). Complete the game without save & quit, wrong warps, or out of bounds. The most brutal aspect of this run is that you not only need flawless execution throughout the entirety of the run, but also the final boss is just riddled with RNG. I couldn't count the number of times Vlack had missed out on WR purely based on RNG alone. Upward of 10 times in a single stream! Day after day this bad luck just beats down on any runner with green splits. One of the most notable luck-based moments of the final fight is during a phase in which Agahnim shoots projectiles towards L...

Archives 15 Untied WR

Karl Takes another UWR! After just recently achieving his incredible 52 second untied world record on Dam Agent on December 2nd, knocking back 127 people to 2nd place... he does it again. Being in top shape, Karl recognized his momentum and didn't let it slip. He decided to begin his journey for his next untied. 105 speedrunners on the leaderboard for Archives Agent held a 1st place tied world record of 16 seconds. This tied WR included Karl himself with his 16 achieved all the way back on January 18th, 2006. Now, it is extremely important to understand the significance of a 16 before we continue. There weren't 105 runners on the leaderboard with a 16 PB because it's easy to get. To achieve this great time, runners spend hundred, if not thousands of hours perfecting their strafes, shooti...

ZFG Gets OoT 100% WR With New Route!

Timed at 4:11:08, Zfg just improved his Ocarina of Time 100% world record with the new category route! There was a huge build up of anticipation for this run. We watched as Zfg pieced together old and new route ideas, unsure if it could even result in a time save, or if it was simply wasted efforts. We started off knowing it could be slower, but as it was timed we found the new route to be at least 1 minute faster. Within 24 hours, that time save jumped to 2 minutes. Zfg's not sure what the God-run might look like, but with a quick estimate he stated it might be around 4:07:xx. So what changed? So much, and I'm sure nobody can explain it in as great of detail as Zfg himself! One of the first notable changes is the RBA inside the windmill before getting the song of storms. Doing this all...

BBF_ Improves Boshy WR! 30:43

What a run! BBF_ has held world record in Boshy's main category for quite some time now, but his name just got etched deeper into the leaderboard with an amazing time of 30:43. Previously holding the WR at 31:02. The main category of I Wanna Be The Boshy is Any% (No WW, Dark Boshy Only) with 53 people on the leaderboard. Witwix still holds second place from his 2014 run with a time of 32:24, leaving 31 now completely vacant of any runner's personal best. There's always a special feeling when seeing someone achieve the greatest time ever, but this run was a little something extra. It started off on a great pace with minor ups and downs but as he got further into the run, it became a rollercoaster of nerves. His World 10 split was 17.9 seconds ahead which is absolutely insane. Missing...
