Summer Games Done Quick 2020 Online (SGDQ 2020) has come and gone, but it isn’t time to say goodbye just yet! The event, which raised approximately 2.3 million dollars for Doctors Without Borders from August 16th to the wee hours of August 23rd, was full of incredible displays of gaming from runners across the globe. While it is always hard to select just a few favorite speedruns, here are five which had really stuck out to us over the course of the event -- in no particular order. 1. Maxam and Muty’s Race for Sub 27 in Half-Life

In the realm of speedrunning, all achievements seem to pale in comparison to the world record run that breaks a long-awaited time barrier for many speedrunners and viewers alike. For those initiated in the community, these runs, both classic and modern, immediately spring to mind. The dedication of top speedrunners to their game is what drives our grassroots community forward, and seeing talent and hard work finally accumulate into a singular blissful moment of success is a breathtaking experience to witness. Dwhatever and Super Mario 64 were not the only particip...

The run is super exciting to watch, as there is a very interesting strat for all of the bosses. You get a mini adrenaline rush every time Luigi starts to vacuum up a Boo, leading to very intense moments, especially towards the end of the run.
