The Adventures of MicroMan Adventure 1: Crazy Computers. That’s technically the full name of the game I’ve recently been focused on.

It’s a 1993 game that runs on anything from DOS (Windows 3.1) up to Windows 10, using a custom software called WAP… no, not the modern meaning of WAP. This WAP means Windows Animation Package. Both the game and WAP were developed by Brian Goble.

There are 3 games in the full series, and I’ve established speedruns and leaderboards for each! There are links to one run of each game below. I won’t link any more than that, but it’s good to note that each game does have multiple categories.

This third installment is made by HipSoft rather than Mr. Goble himself. From the sounds of it, I believe Brian Goble created HipSoft or worked on their team.

Either way, it’s a pretty awesome 2D sidescrolling platformer. It feels a bit like Mega Man with the various weapon power-up, disappearing & reappearing blocks, teleporters, and boss fights. But it feels totally original throughout the game.

If you’d want to check it out, there are really good resources and guides available on each of their leaderboards at https://www.speedrun.com/microman_adventures

I am currently the only runner on the leaderboards, but I’d be happy to help anyone who wants to give it a go!
